Residents Petition Gov Fashola

Over five thousand residents of Amikanle in Agbado-Oke Odo Local Council Development Area have sent a passionate appeal to Governor Babatunde Raji Fashola to reconsider his decision to demolish residential buildings in the area.

Over five thousand residents of Amikanle in Agbado-Oke Odo Local Council Development Area have sent a passionate appeal to Governor Babatunde Raji Fashola to reconsider his decision to demolish residential buildings in the area.

The residents made this appeal at a reconciliatory meeting held at Ajasa Town Hall, Meiran.

The peace parley was at the instance of the petition forwarded to the Lagos State House of Assembly Committee on Human Rights and Public Petition, which ordered the Amikanle community and Mrs. Oluwakemi Anifowoshe to resolve their differences amicably.

The residents described themselves as victims of Aboru, Iyana Ipaja who were sent parking by the Obasanjo administration in 2003.

The reconciliatory meeting had the residents, as well as the community leaders in attendance, except Mrs. Anifowoshe, who initiated the parley.

The Alajasa of Ajasa, Oba Sule Subair, who also spoke on the matter, assured residents that Governor Fashola would not tolerate any trouble on land matters in the community.

The royal father disclosed that it was resolved at a meeting of traditional rulers held at the Alausa Secretariat, recently that the Amikanle community was under government acquisition, adding that the state government had concluded plans to take over the lands and compensate affected residents.

Residents of Amikanle recently petitioned the Lagos State House of Assembly on the land dispute between them and Mrs. Anifowoshe.
