Passengers Now Buy Personal Helmets

Following the enforcement of the law compelling the wearing of crash helmets by motorcycle riders (Okada) and their passengers, Lagosians are now buying their own crash helmets.

Following the enforcement of the law compelling the wearing of crash helmets by motorcycle riders (Okada) and their passengers, Lagosians are now buying their own crash helmets.

Since the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) started to enforce the law, passengers have started buying their own helmets to avoid contacting diseases.

While men buy the crash helmet to avoid being infected with bumps and other diseases, women do it because of lice and other skin infections.

The most common of these helmets are those used on construction sites. They are cheaper and easier to carry around.

P.M.News observed that people now carry their helmets in polythene bags or big brown envelopes.

Moji Lawal, who works in Ikeja Industrial Estate, confirmed that she decided to buy the helmet to avoid contacting diseases associated with the scalp. "Me, I cannot share helmet with anybody, God forbid. Do you expect me to wear an helmet used by so many people. No way!"

Others, who do not want their names in print, said it is better to buy a personal crash helmet than share one with others.
