Lagos AC Blasts PDP For Statement On Tinubu

The Lagos state chapter of the Action Congress has lambasted the Peoples Democratic Party for misinterpreting the statement credited to Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, former Lagos state governor, that electoral robbers should wait for the full wrath of the people should they repeat the same sordid act as happened in 2003 and 2007.

The party sees PDP’s stance as an unrepentant commitment to electoral fraud and rigging, the type that gave it its present cosmetic strength and the mandate to ruin Nigeria.

In a release in Lagos, signed by the party’s Lagos State Publicity Secretary, Joe Igbokwe, the Lagos AC says the PDP is frightened by any suggestion of the people rising against electoral robbers because it hopes to continue stealing the votes and mandates of the Nigerian people.

It warns the PDP to start preparing for a Kenya or Zimbabwe should it insist on violently manipulating election results to give it the licence to continue the present destruction of Nigeria for their selfish benefit.

“The only plausible reason why the PDP flared up and threatened fire and brimstone as if we are in Marcias Nguema’s Equatorial Guinea, is that the party cannot exist outside violent electoral fraud and vote robbery.

“The PDP knows that it remains the most unpopular institution in Nigeria today, hated and loathed with passion by Nigerians, and that a free-and-fair electoral system will unmask its fraudulent make-up.

“This is the reason it runs temperature at any talk of reforming the macabre electoral system that has afforded the PDP the license to steal the people’s vote and claim a fraudulent strength it doesn’t have.

“That the PDP feels so free to threaten people with arrest and detention over statements that are intolerant of electoral fraud shows that the PDP is living in a fool’s paradise regarding its strengths in a democracy since its members never fought for, nor had done anything to advance. This is sad and pathetic of a party that is misruling and mismanaging Nigeria and which has reduced Nigeria to a laughing stock in the international community and among her citizens. PDP, with the stolen mandate it is wielding, has, in nine harrowing years, reduced Nigeria to a beggarly pit of hell where nothing works, and for this, Nigerians would love nothing more than hauling PDP to the trashcans where it rightly belongs.

“That they are rattling unnecessary saber over the contention of Asiwaju Tinubu and indeed all Nigerians that electoral fraud will no longer be tolerated in Nigeria, especially with the shame and disgrace Nigeria lapped up after the Ghana elections, shows that the minds of the members of the PDP are made up to ensure that electoral fraud is institutionalised in Nigeria. It shows that the party is so scared of reform of the country’s electoral system and that so far it has been paying lip service to the reforms.

“We, however, warn the PDP to wait for Nigerians in 2011 if it should re-enact the same scam it had been benefiting from since 1999 and we warn them that what happened in Kenya and Zimbabwe would be child’s play compared with how Nigerians would react to another bizarre electoral robbery.

“We want to repeat, for emphasis, that nobody would be allowed to steal the votes of Nigerians in 2011 and be allowed to go home in one piece. The PDP should better take note of this warning!”
