Court Dissolves Gbenga Obasanjo’s Marriage

A Lagos High Court today finally put a legal seal to the irredeemable marriage between Gbenga Obasanjo, son of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, and his estranged wife, Moji.

A Lagos High Court today finally put a legal seal to the irredeemable marriage between Gbenga Obasanjo, son of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, and his estranged wife, Moji.

An Ikeja High Court presided over by Justice Daodu Williams, this morning ruled that the union had broken down irretrievably. She thus dissolved the marriage.

Gbenga had filed a divorce suit for the dissolution of their eight-year old marriage, claiming that his wife had broken her marital vows.

He claimed that his wife had been sleeping with her father and father-in-law, former president Olusegun Obasanjo to secure contracts from the Federal Government.

Delivering judgement on the matter this morning, Justice Williams ruled that from the available evidence before her, it is incontrovertible that the marriage had broken down irretrievably.

According to the judge, the only evidence before the court was given by the petitioner, and it showed that the marriage cannot be redeemed.

On the terms of settlement, the judgement ruled that Gbenga should take the responsibility of the day-to-day care of the children and ensure that their educational needs are met.

The court also ruled that the obligation shall remain binding on Gbenga until the children are 21 years old.

Custody of the children was, however, granted to Moji.

Both Gbenga, Moji and their family members were not in court when the judgement was delivered.
