Shake up in Navy

The Nigerian Navy yesterday announced a major shake up with the appointment of new Flag Officers Commanding (FOCs) for the various naval commands in the country.

The Nigerian Navy yesterday announced a major shake up with the appointment of new Flag Officers Commanding (FOCs) for the various naval commands in the country.

Under the new arrangement, Rear Admiral I.B. Acholonu, former Naval Secretary, is now Flag Officer Commanding, Eastern Naval Command, while Rear Admiral O.S. Ibrahim is the new Flag Officer Commanding Western Naval Command. Rear Admiral O.F. Oketa is now the Flag Officer Commanding Logistics Command, while Rear Admiral E.U. Ekwere, is Flag Officer Commanding, Naval Training Command.

The appointments, which takes effect from the end of this month, according to the Director, Naval Information, Commodore David Nabaida, also has Rear Admiral Dele Ezeoba, as the Chief of Training and Operations, Naval Headquarters; Rear Admiral S.A. Mohammed, Admiral Superintendent, Naval Dockyard; Rear Admiral G. Amodu, Chief of Naval Engineering and Rear Admiral S.U. Umosen, former FOC, Western Naval Command as Chief of Policy and Plans.

Others are Rear Admiral G.O. Akpollo, Chief of Administration, Defence Headquarters; Rear Admiral A.A. Macaulay, Chief of Accounts and Budget; Commodore U.O. Jibrin, Naval Secretary; Commodore D.O. Osufia, Commodore superintendent, Naval Ordinance as well as Commodore A.B. Afolayan, who is now the director of medical services.
