Obalende Residents Cry Out For Help

Community development association members in Obalende, comprising Ajeniya, Odo, Moshalashi and Toyan streets have raised an alarm over attempt by a politician in the area to destabilise the community by imposing an unpopular candidate on the Obalende CDA.

Community development association members in Obalende, comprising Ajeniya, Odo, Moshalashi and Toyan streets have raised an alarm over attempt by a politician in the area to destabilise the community by imposing an unpopular candidate on the Obalende CDA.

The politician was also accused of unilaterally cancelling the CDA election scheduled to hold on 15 January, 2009 on the excuse that it would not favour his candidate.

The members appealed to Governor Babatunde Raji Fashola to wade into the matter by calling the politician to order.

Those who spoke with P.M.News include Florence Toby, a.k.a. Iya Omo, Mr. Lukmon Hassan, Alhaji Omar Adamu, chairman Arewa unified group, Eti-Osa local government and the Ndigbo principal coordinator, Prince Sylvanus Odum.

Contestants for the chairmanship position of the CDA are Mr. Matadi Mumuni, Mr. Sule Bariba and Waidi Jacobs.

”We have been electing our chairmen and executives through free and fair elections in the past 100 years, until this politician came and tried to destabilise us.

”We are now calling on Governor Fashola to call him to order and allow democracy to thrive in Obalende,” Alhaji Omar Adamu, a member of the community pleaded.
