Speaking with Gateway Titbits, the Oba-elect said: “I am highly elated for being chosen as the next Oru of Imoru. By the grace of God, we shall all proceed to the palace of the Awujale tomorrow, to present my royal gift ,’Ikaro’, which is part of the coronation process. I thank all sons and daughters of Imoru, both at home and in the diaspora, for their support since my nomination and I’m assuring them that our community will become a force to reckon with, in terms of development, during my tenure.

“The people have been so supportive, but like Oliver Twist, I am still asking for more support from them as I cannot do it alone; we all need to work hand-in-hand for the progress and development of our motherland.”

The civil engineer stated that prayers will be held in the morning, to officially commission his palace, before moving to the Awujale’s palace. This will be preceded by a reception at the Oba-elect’s palace, in Imoru.

Bashorun is the second monarch of the town. The first, Oba Adegboyega Obalaja, joined his ancestors in 2002. The coronation and official presentation of staff of office has been fixed for March.
